Alan Wake is a famous writer who travels to the small town of Bright Falls to overcome his writer’s block. Soon after arriving, his wife Alice disappears mysteriously, and Alan finds himself trapped in a nightmare.

Dark forces begin attacking the town, and strange events seem to come alive from Alan’s own writing. As Alan searches for Alice, he discovers that his stories can change reality. Using a flashlight and weapons, he fights shadowy enemies while uncovering the dark secret behind a supernatural presence called the Dark Presence.

In the end, Alan sacrifices his freedom to save Alice, remaining trapped in the darkness while the mystery of Bright Falls continues.
